Otherwise, I would be very angry if I wasted $100 of my own money on this thing. It DOES NOT count steps correctly. I am so tired of restarting the stupid thing, only to have it stop counting within a few seconds. I will never recommend this product to anyone. I absolutely hate it.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9018343649732176461.post-5432575647549697772014-12-07T20:52:38.227-05:002014-12-07T20:52:38.227-05:00Just received the Fitbit Flex as a gift and was fe...Just received the Fitbit Flex as a gift and was feeling so motivated to reach my 10,000 steps. However, I noticed on my second day of attempting to reach the 10,000, I walked much further on my route, up and down hills, too, but noticed the Flex tracked far fewer steps and fewer than half the "staircases" I had received the day before. Subsequently, I manually counted my steps at several different times and then several days, and found the Fitbit Flex was tracking only about 60-65% of my steps. I was walking outside the entire time, and typically walk about 3-4 mph. Thanks for your blog. I'll definitely be following up with FItbit to try and resolve this problem. Although, if you research the technology that the Flex uses you can understand why it would not work as accurately. Your experience is unfortunate, however you cannot always expect perfection from technology. Just because it does not work for you does not mean it would not work for anyone. I walk a lot at work and outdoors and it is very accurate for my type of activity. I highly recommend the Flex for people with the same type of activity as me!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9018343649732176461.post-89101967514429340422014-04-01T12:01:27.247-04:002014-04-01T12:01:27.247-04:00Tuck the flex into the waistband of your sweats.Tuck the flex into the waistband of your sweats.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9018343649732176461.post-21130491876142948392014-03-01T18:52:19.878-05:002014-03-01T18:52:19.878-05:00Sounds like, based on comments rec'd, that the...Sounds like, based on comments rec'd, that the Force might be much better than the Flex when it comes to counting steps on the treadmill. I'm not going to buy a third Fitbit item though without borrowing whatever it might be from a friend so I can compare the step count, see how it works. Definitely don't want to waste another $100 and the time just to ultimately be unhappy with my purchase. I think anyone who does a chunk of their walking on the treadmill needs to avoid the Flex.

I do like the dashboard, the app, etc. www.ArtsAcrossGA.comhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00144119094063542802noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9018343649732176461.post-38654542060862735202014-03-01T18:42:46.042-05:002014-03-01T18:42:46.042-05:00I did put my gate in also. I also think if I hadn't had the One first and compared the two I'd never have known the step count was off. www.ArtsAcrossGA.comhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00144119094063542802noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9018343649732176461.post-40157670818190992092014-03-01T18:40:48.124-05:002014-03-01T18:40:48.124-05:00Nope, not holding the treadmill. I tracked the treadmill mileage vs what each counted, tried swinging my hands more, less, normally, tried pumping them even! I'm thinking that the Force might be more accurate? Not sure. However, I'm quite happy with my One now. It tracks accurately. I walk sometimes with friends who have the Flex, works great as long as we're out walking the hills and walkways. www.ArtsAcrossGA.comhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00144119094063542802noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9018343649732176461.post-1113180630546972472014-02-18T15:55:21.278-05:002014-02-18T15:55:21.278-05:00I used my Fitbit Force with a treadmill that also ...I used my Fitbit Force with a treadmill that also had a step counting feature in it while I was traveling. I walked about 6000 steps on the treadmill, and my Force was accurate to within about 150 steps.

If you believe your Fitbit was undercounting your steps on the treadmill, I would guess that it was because you were holding onto the treadmill with the arm that had the Fitbit on it. If you use the treadmill and hold onto it, it will undercount your steps. If you move your arms normally on the treadmill as you would when you are walking not on a treadmill, the count is quite accurate.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9018343649732176461.post-48815102492040242092014-02-09T14:29:23.195-05:002014-02-09T14:29:23.195-05:00Did you put the measurement of your gate...step......Did you put the measurement of your gate...step...in your profile? I figured this out when my husband had many more steps though we were walking together. You need to measure your step and record that for accuracy. :)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9018343649732176461.post-16045149201422439232014-01-18T11:55:20.182-05:002014-01-18T11:55:20.182-05:00I have the Force and have not had this problem on ...I have the Force and have not had this problem on the treadmill, in fact with the Fitbit app on my android, it will connect with Bluetooth to the device and show me the steps as I count them. I counted 50 steps and the Force kept up 100% accurate with each step. I weigh 235lbs and walk at a 3.3 MPH pace, so a much lighter person going slower may get different results. It does not read anything from the Elleptical or Recumbent Bike. I suspect its because those are a smooth motion without a gentle jolt that it can read. For those I just manually enter the exercise.

Oh, and incidentally, I also have the Aria Black scale and couldn't be happier with it. It records my bodyfat percentage and weight and automatically updates to my Fitbit account.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9018343649732176461.post-28268662217822947892013-10-25T11:00:33.629-04:002013-10-25T11:00:33.629-04:00I was considering ordering one of Fitbit's new...I was considering ordering one of Fitbit's new wrist band counters, "Force". I like that it shows your progress. After reading your post I will not be doing so. It looks like the company is very responsive, which is rare these days. But if the product doesn't do what it is supposed to do then all the good service in the world doesn't help. Did they send you a new "One"? You are ...I tracked my Flex after seeing your post. You are absolutely correct, the count is way, way, way off if you're using a treadmill or any kind of exercise machine like my elliptical. I had no idea I was losing steps. I wish I'd bought the One instead. I will share with my family because they were thinking about getting one. Guess we'll go look at other companies. I heard that Nike has a wrist band. Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
